Compost Cats

The student-operated Compost Cats program provides a model for how institutions of higher education can build enduring community relationships as well as training student environmental leaders for the great social and environmental challenges we face.
Compost Cats students form and participate actively in partnerships with city government, a tribal farm, private businesses, schools, and non-profits, building social capital that will make the group a significant player in local waste and food security planning. Student leaders will learn applied job skills in the areas of agriculture and soil science, communication and group presentation, marketing, business planning, and collaborative governance.
