Undergraduate Teaching Assistants (UTAs) teach and mentor students through a rigorous course designed to prepare students for college-level mathematics. UTAs are asked to teach several lessons each week using our online classroom environment, Adobe Connect. They are also required to support students during our in-person office hours where they provide tutoring, and develop study plans for struggling students. In addition to their teaching and tutoring times, UTAs are required to attend regular trainings to continue practicing and honing their pedagogical skills and strategies. Our focus is to provide training for teacher development through practice, reflection, and evaluation. Our UTAs will have a heightened understanding of themselves while learning to communicate and articulate in a positive manner with both students and peers.
