Students for Sustainability

Through regular lectures and discussion led by the course instructor, undergraduate assistant directors, and guest speakers, required readings, and their own individual and collaborative inquiry, students gain a general understanding of a wide range of environmental and natural resource related challenges, including their social, political, and economic dimensions. Special attention is given to systems thinking, understanding the institutional structure of the University of Arizona, and development of effective professional communication and group work skills, with a view toward collaborative projects. This is meant to move the UA and wider community toward exemplification of sustainability best practices and development of a student population profoundly engaged in developing solutions to the sustainability challenges our community, and our world, faces.
