The Wildcat Way Program of Excellence has been developed to align with the mission of the athletics department - the holistic development of our student-athletes. The Wildcat Way is a way of thinking, of doing, and of living and defines what it means to represent the `A'. The Wildcat Way is an extension of our award winning C.A.T.S. (Commitment to an Athlete's Total Success) Program. The Wildcat Way Program of Excellence encourages personal and professional development around our creed which includes, `to contribute more, accomplish more, and be more', as well as our motto I AM. I CAN. I WILL. Student-athletes will be prepared not only for the athletic and academic rigors they will face but also for the transition into the real world and beyond.
The 5 pillars of The Wildcat Way are:
Engaged - show up, be all in, pay full attention, give your best effort in whatever you are doing
Versatile - develop different skill sets; be adaptable; expand your identity outside of athletics
Respectful - be respectful of yourself, others, professors, facilities, history, traditions, and time
Innovative - think different, be creative, be visionary, problem solve, challenge the process
Committed - be accountable, persevere, follow through, be disciplined, purpose driven
I AM - Develop identities outside of athletics by identity exposure, exploration and expansion.
I CAN - awareness of the possibilities and embracing our goal `to contribute more, accomplish more and be more'
I WILL - Commitment; follow through; strategic and measurable actions to achieve goals.
It is extremely important to us that our UA community understands not only our departmental philosophy but also realizes what our student athletes are contributing and achieving outside of athletics.
